Close Encounters

I know I have been neglecting this blog a lot lately, but I have been real busy!! Just had to stop in and share this with you, It is Brad and Josh yesterday when we went to the zoo. We all had a blast, and as you can see, we got up close and personal with the animals. I think Brad had the most fun when he was feeding the Lorikeets. A baby one decided he liked Josh and kept landing on his shirt, and nibbling at his hand... and Josh didn't even have any bird food... Anyway, here is the layout I got to do for me today (since I was off of work, and school didn't start because of tropical storm Faye... and we got almost none of it) The kit is My Brother and Me by Nicole Young, and I also used Christine Gundersen's Slippery Slope Quick Click.

Happy Birthday to Me...

Well, the day is here. I turned 40 today! Can’t say I am thrilled about it, but so far, it hasn’t been too bad of a day! Being a Monday, all my "friends" at work had fun… Black streamers, Lordy Lordy Look who’s 40 signs, and of course 40 black balloons all over! (and my office isn’t very big) But the best part was the cake! Chocolate Ganache Supreme by Publix, they make the best cakes! It is listed as one of their Decadent Deserts. Here is a picture…

Do you know exactly what Decadent means?? I have alway thought about it as expensive, indulgent, rich. Those would be the words I would use. But someone actually looked it up this morning… here is what dictionary.com has as the definition. Being in a state of decline or decay. —Synonyms 1. corrupt, immoral, degenerate, debased, debauched, self-indulgent. You have to sit back and wonder, just when it because a good word to use for foods?? lol, that is my thought for the day! Hope you have a great day!

Here is a quick layout I did today using my Rhapsody Kit. It was for the All About Me challange at ScrapProfessor.com. I am almost always behind the camera, and almost no layouts I do are about me, so I thought this would be the perfect time to do one. After all, I will only turn 40 once!

Vacation

Why is it everything happens at the same time?? Here I am getting ready to go on vacation on our cruise, and Brad has been sick, and Josh has an infection on his cheek. (I won’t go into the details because it is really gross!) but he has this hole in his face that we have to keep changing the bandages and he is taking antibiotics. My desk is piled high, which I have to have cleaned off before I can go… I’ve done nothing but laundry for the last 2 days… and then there is my mother, she is a story in itself. Sometimes I think it just isn’t worth taking a vacation… but I need a break! Part of me is a little guilty for not taking the kids, but then part of me will be happy for some quiet time! We leave on Thursday! Be sure to check back, as I will have plenty of pictures!!

Getting old is for the birds...

I am breaking off the designing and freebies off of this blog, as I have started a new one since joining DigiScrapStation. (ugh) I won’t even go into the hard time I am having with my up coming birthday (it is still almost a month away), and my older two will be 20 & 22 later this year, but my baby Brad is turning SIX on Sunday!! I just can’t believe that. He was sitting on my lap a couple of weeks ago, and I was hugging him and I said I wish he didn’t have to grow up so fast. He actually got upset, and looked at me and said "But mom, I want to grow up and get big!!" Here is my most recent layout of him, just last week when he lost his first tooth. Now his other bottom one is getting very lose, so he will be without both until they grow in. Hope you like it and have a wonderful weekend!!

Life gets in the way

I know I promised a little freebie for you today, but sometimes life just gets in the way! I was all set to finish it up after my little one’s tee ball game, but then there was this unfortunate mishap with a squirrel and the transformer, and I was without power for about 3 hours last night… everyone for two blocks around my house was without power. I spoke with more neighbors last night then I think I have in two months. When the power went off, everyone wandered out of their houses to see what was going on. I am going to try to get it finished up tonight!!
